The work by Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val is a loose adaptation of the coat of arms of Lapland. Carnivalesque* Lapland Highway* contains, as is typical for the artist duo, a wealth of details, with numerous figures, faces, and silhouettes to be discovered. Raekallio and del Val paint together, working on the piece simultaneously. This work, too, has emerged as a visual dialogue between the artists. 

The seasons are important to Raekallio and del Val. They observe and marvel at them, feeling that each has its own powerful character. Which season do you think dominates the spirit of this work? 

The 2022 Art Windows were unveiled as part of the program for the National Heritage Days held in Rovaniemi. The featured artists were Eemil Karila, who returned to Rovaniemi after many years in Berlin, and the artist duo Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val from Kittilä.
