Great Martyr Anastasia
IconThis icon is one of the older ones in the cathedral, dating back to the 18th century. It is a hagiography icon, depicting the life of Anastasia of Sirmium. She was a healer and an exorcist from 3rd century Rome. She was known for miraculously healing people, who were affected by potions, poisons and spells. That’s why she was called the deliverer of potions. Her fame spread around the area and as a result she was tortured and eventually burned to death in 290 during the Diocletian’s persecutions.
