Northern Lights Cheerleading NLC ry was founded in 2017 to provide a dedicated home for cheerleading in Oulu. However, the roots of cheerleading in its sister club, Northern Lights Ry, date back to the early 1980s. Over the years, the current club has grown rapidly from a small organization into one of the largest promoters of physical activity in the Oulu region, now engaging around 1,100 children, young people, and adults.

The club offers both disciplines of competitive cheerleading – cheerleading and cheer dance – for participants of all levels, from beginners to national and international athletes, providing a pathway for long-term development from first steps to the top.
