Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val - Beyond

Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val (b. 1978 Kittilä and 1979 Bilbao) live and work in Sirkka, Kittilä. When their paintings are created collaboratively, the working process is physical and intense. Raekallio and del Val describe it as a form of improvisation that can be compared to making music. It is based on mutual trust, intuition, and the idea that the painting itself guides the process. The journey can be surprising, and the outcome remains open. 

In their work, Raekallio and del Val draw on the history of visual art and film, as well as stories and the landscapes of Lapland.
