Matthew the Evangelist

Saint Matthew was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus. He wrote the Gospel of Matthew and preached around the Middle East. He was burned alive by the command of ruler Fulvian.

In iconography he is often depicted with an angel, symbolizing the humanity of Jesus.
