Rovaniemi Art Museum
The story of the Rovaniemi Art Museum began on October 17, 1986, when the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation donated its art collection to the City of Rovaniemi. Over the years, the annually growing collection has expanded from around 500 works to nearly 4,000 pieces, making it one of the most significant collections of contemporary Finnish art. Through the museum's permanent exhibitions, you can gain a comprehensive view of the development of Finnish art from the 1940s to the present day, including evolving materials and an ever-expanding range of techniques.
The museum's temporary exhibitions offer a northern perspective on the world. Both Finnish and international artists from northern regions present current artistic trends in the Arctic area. The Rovaniemi Art Museum, which serves as the regional museum for Lapland, focuses its exhibition activities on themes of northern identity and the Arctic.
You can explore the exhibitions through guided tours.
