Niemelä Sheepfarm

Äijälän Luomutila is a small organic farm with direct sales, located in the village of Äijälä in Laukaa, about 40 km north of Jyväskylä.

The farm’s mission is to continue the food production work started by previous generations, care for traditional rural landscapes, preserve the genes of native livestock breeds and heritage plants, and offer customers the opportunity to buy food and other products directly from the farm. Organic farming, traditional biotopes, and native breeds all help support and maintain biodiversity in both nature and agriculture.

Customers often say that the excellent care of the animals can truly be tasted in the products—and together with protecting nature, this forms the foundation of the farm’s values.

The farm offers delicious organic lamb and mutton, beautiful sheepskins, genuine wool yarn spun in Finland from the farm’s own sheep, wool for crafts and traditional uses, as well as high-quality firewood for the winter season. Depending on the season, funnel chanterelles, nettle, yarrow, and dandelion are also available by order.
