Description

Kuvan Kevät 2026 offers a wide-ranging glimpse into the artistic thinking of a new generation of artists. As the annual MFA degree exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts, it presents works created by students completing their master's studies and serves as one of Finland's most significant showcases of emerging contemporary art.

Spread across multiple exhibition spaces on the Sörnäinen Campus, the exhibition brings together diverse artistic approaches, materials, and perspectives. While not organized around a single theme, many of the works engage with questions of materiality, identity, self-expression, technology, and the social and cultural challenges of our time.

Through painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, moving image, and spatial practices, the participating artists explore contemporary life from a variety of viewpoints, creating a rich and multifaceted exhibition experience.

Following along

The best way to experience the exhibition is to allow time to explore several of the exhibition spaces across the campus. The diversity of artistic practices rewards curiosity, slow observation, and openness to unexpected encounters.

Sörnäinen Campus

The exhibition occupies multiple locations within the Academy of Fine Arts and Theatre Academy buildings, transforming the campus into a large-scale exhibition environment. Visitors can move between galleries, studios, and public spaces to experience the breadth of work produced by the graduating artists.

A new generation of contemporary art

Kuvan Kevät has long served as an important platform for artists at the beginning of their professional careers. The exhibition highlights new voices in contemporary art and provides insight into the ideas, concerns, materials, and methods shaping the future of the field.

Collaboration

Kuvan Kevät 2026 is organised by the Academy of Fine Arts at Uniarts Helsinki and reflects the academy's commitment to supporting emerging artists and fostering experimentation, critical thinking, and artistic excellence.
