Lohilahti Canoeing Route

A stunning paddling route begins in the village of Lohilahti, leading through the open waters, lakes, and river sections of Lake Saimaa to various rest stops. Paddle through nationally valuable landscapes and experience Lohilahti from the water.

From Lohikoski to the Shelters
The Lohilahti Canoeing Route runs from Lohikoski through Näkösalmi to Julunkivi — one of Finland’s largest glacial boulders. Beneath the massive rock, you’ll find a cozy campfire site. The paddling distance to Julunkivi is about 10 kilometers.

Following the same route, you can continue via Juurikkaselkä to the Pussinpohja lean-to shelter, which also has a campfire site. The distance to Pussinpohja shelter is about 9 kilometers.

From Lohilahti to Ruokolahti
A longer paddling route extends from Lohilahti to Ruokolahti. The Lohilahti Canoeing Route connects with the Ruokolahti Canoeing Route at Lieviskänlahti. Along the way, there are several campfire sites and lean-to shelters, including the Mikonpolvi shelter located by the Lieviskä River.
