Pumpfoil & Scootfoil Try-Out

Pumpfoil and scootfoil look almost like magic: the board does not touch the water, yet you still gain speed. Once you see it for the first time, you will want to try it yourself.

During the Maritime Helsinki weekend, you can discover one of the fastest-growing foil sports: pumpfoiling and scootfoiling.

The sport is striking in its simplicity: you jump from the pier onto the board, start moving by pumping, and the board rises into flight like an aircraft. This begins a glide that looks almost weightless from the outside.

You can drop by at any time during the weekend to learn about the sport, equipment and technique. On the shore, you will see how the movement is created and can talk with enthusiasts about what makes the sport so addictive and how to get started.

Guided try-outs will also be organised during the weekend, giving you the chance to test the sport yourself safely under guidance. More detailed times and bookings will be published separately on the event page, linked at the end of the text.

One of the sport’s greatest strengths is that it does not depend on specific conditions. You do not need wind or waves, just a pier and water about one metre deep. This makes pumpfoil and scootfoil one of the easiest ways to get your first taste of foiling.

And if you get inspired, you can also discover other foil sports at the same event. Wingfoil brings in the wind, e-foil adds electric power, and SUP foil offers longer glides. On one beach, you can see in practice the different ways to “fly” over water, and find out which one feels right for you.

The event takes place at HSK’s surf beach in cooperation with HSK and is part of a wider weekend programme of water sports.
