Jukka Mäkelä - Landscape
PaintingJukka Mäkelä (b. 1949 Helsinki, d. 2021 Helsinki) placed nature and his immediate environment at the centre of his art. His paintings are always pictorial expressions of the artist himself. He could find inspiration in, for example, a rock surface, weathered textures, a cracked teacup, clusters of leaves, or branches. In his works, one can see traces of the working process, such as marks of movement on the surface and the time the making has taken. Mäkelä served for a long time as an expert member of the acquisition committee of the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.
Landscape (1987) was shown at the Venice Biennale in 1988.
