📅 Su 7.6.2026, klo 14.00–16.00
📍 Harakka Island, N 60° 9,029' and E 24° 57,451', Harakka, Helsinki
How many bird species' chicks can you spot during a single island trip? Eider chicks dive for tiny aquatic insects and crustaceans, while merganser chicks fish. Barnacle goose goslings roam grassy areas with their parents in search of food. Meanwhile, common and lesser black-backed gull chicks wait on the rocks for their parents to bring them something to eat.
On the excursion, participants can admire the winged residents of the archipelago while taking a leisurely walk of up to about one kilometre. Part of the route goes over uneven rocky terrain. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the island. Please also bring your own snacks, as the island has no cafés.
Excursion start place: The excursion begins at the Harakka Island pier area after the 14:00 ferry has arrived.
The connecting ferry to Harakka operates from Ullanlinna pier, next to café Ursula (Ehrenströmintie 3). Return tickets are €9 for adults, €6 for children (ages 7–17) and seniors, and free for children under the age of seven. Card payment or MobilePay (17371) is preferred. By using MobilePay during public events, you help make ferry traffic more efficient.
The ferry is not fully accessible, but strollers can be lifted aboard if needed.
The ferry fare is at your own expense, but the guided tour is free. Raise the white wooden signal post on the pier at least five minutes before the scheduled departure time to alert the ferry driver.
The free excursion is part of the 2026 nature excursion calendar for the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. No advance registration is required. The Metropolitan Area nature excursion calendar is available online (PDF, in Finnish).
