Pentti Kaskipuro - Three Potatoes, etc.
PaintingGraphic artist Pentti Kaskipuro (b. 1930 Helsinki, d. 2010 Kauniainen) worked as a teacher at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (now part of Aalto University) and later as an artist professor. His usually black-and-white intaglio prints, created with drypoint or aquatint, often depict elements of domestic life, such as food. In Kaskipuro’s art, however, these elements take on a significance beyond everyday reality. The compositions of his works are balanced, with lighting that is both ceremonial and emphasizes form.
