The Organ

On the West side of the church, facing the altar, stands the organ. The church´s first organ was from the Ulrika Eleonora Church, and it was built by Carl Wåhlström in the 1700s. The organ was replaced for a newer one in 1869, and the organ was built by Per Larsson Åkerman. The organ built by Per Larsson Åkerman is still in use.

Music is an essential part of the Lutheran Church, and the most important instrument is the organ. The organ is used for the accompaniment of hymns and liturgy in the Western Christian Church.

The organ has two keyboards, 37 registers, a pedalboard, and over 3000 pipes. You can hear organ music almost every week during daily services and organ rehearsals. During the summertime, the Old Church hosts organ concerts every Tuesday at 12 o’clock.
