Iconostasis

Mary of Egypt was a desert ascetic who lived during the 6th century. She spent 47 years in solitude, surviving only on three loaves of bread and the scarce herbs of the desert. During her years in solitude, she was tormented by mad desires and passions, but she endured and overcame these challenges. She is commemorated on the 5th Sunday of the Great Lent.
