Petri Eskelinen - Hands
VideoPetri Eskelinen (b. 1975, Rovaniemi) has developed a distinctive sculptural language that combines technical ingenuity with perceptual exploration. He is particularly known for his mechanical and electromechanical sculptures, which often incorporate delightfully unexpected moving elements.
Eskelinen’s works investigate how we perceive motion and vitality, when the inanimate becomes animate, and how we project agency and emotion onto objects. Many of his pieces merge real and artificial elements, such as cultivated plants and robotic companions, operating at the interface between the biological and the technological.
