Linnanmaa Sport Hall
Just under four kilometres from Oulu’s city centre, the Linnanmaa Sports Hall stands as a vibrant hub of activity right next to the University of Oulu. Designed in 1991, the hall features a large multi‑purpose arena that can be divided into four sections, offering excellent facilities for volleyball, floorball, badminton and artistic gymnastics. It also includes a spectator stand, a dedicated music‑exercise studio and a gym. The hall serves as the home court for the OLS men’s and women’s floorball teams.
A major renovation between 2022 and 2024 elevated the complex to a new level, adding a brand‑new swimming hall. It replaced the former Oulu Swimming Hall in Raksila in 2025, and the new Linnanmaa swimming hall quickly became a favourite, attracting over 398,000 visitors in its first year. Meanwhile, a new Oulu Aquatics Centre is set to rise in Raksila by 2029.
Linnanmaa is easy to reach: buses run directly from the city centre, and the fast cycling route makes the trip smooth and convenient for those arriving by bike.
