The carriage shed and the burned stables

Formerly, carriages were used for travel and animal-drawn agricultural machinery was used in farm work. The manors therefore had different kinds of carriages and animal-drawn agricultural machinery like plows, mowers and harvesters, which required storage buildings.

The old carriage shed at Hertonäs Manor has been preserved in the stockyard behind the main house. According to an old blueprint, the carriage shed was built in 1877. The middle section of it was originally open, but walls and doors were built during renovations in the beginning of the 2000s.

Currently there are still a few carriages stored in the carriage shed, some of which are later donations to the museum, and some of which may have belonged to the manor previously.
