Silja Rantanen (b. 1955, Helsinki) is among Finland’s most significant artists representing postmodernism and neo-expressionism. References to architecture recur in Rantanen’s work: lines, planes, and forms combine to create two-dimensional projections. Rantanen has stated that “space is at its most abstract precisely in painting.”
