Description

Choral singing and orchestral music. The Finland-Swedish choral tradition, presented in a festive setting, offers both classical traditional choral works and exciting new pieces, in Swedish and partly in Latin. An orchestra accompanies the joint choral works and also performs string and wind orchestra music. At the main concert, the music is led by several different conductors.

All together

At the main concert, also known as the main celebration, all choir singers from the participating festival choirs and all instrumentalists of the large federation orchestra perform together. In total, around two thousand musicians and choir singers will be gathered on the choir platform under the roof of the Oodi Library. The main concert is the highlight of the Song and Music Festival programme.

The concert begins at 4.00 pm on Saturday, immediately after the Song Festival Parade has arrived at Citizens’ Square from Old Church Square.

Following along

The best way to follow the concert is to arrive early and take a seat on the benches placed at Citizens’ Square in front of Oodi. Free admission. Programmes are sold on site.

The Song Festival’s main stage in front of Oodi is the concert venue. An enormous choir platform built especially for the event is in itself worth a visit.
