The Northern Exhibition Hall

The exhibition rooms on the attic floor of the main castle were completed between 1946 and 1961, when the castle was restored to its current appearance. The concrete roof trusses of the exhibition hall were completed in accordance with the plans of architect Erik Bryggman. Their prototypes have been the former curved structures made of wood, which were destroyed in 1941 during the Second World War.

The treasures of the museum's collection on display in the Northern Exhibition Hall will introduce you to the gentlefolk culture of the 17th–19th centuries. The shimmer of silks, the sheen of porcelain and the sparkle of jewellery tell the story of the glamour and luxurious lifestyle of the era. At the same time, the important roles of servants and craftsmen as part of the gentry culture and its maintenance also emerge.
