The wooden walkways

In the Middle Ages, entrance into the rooms in the main castle was via the wooden walkways along the edges of the walls in the inner courtyard. The only entrance door into the West Tower up until the 1580s was in the place where there is currently a window, above the roof that covered the wooden walkway, as seen in the picture. The current wooden walkways are reconstructions.
